Reflection Movies

In this chapter we learn about Genre. Genre means the type or kind of the movie. They are a lot of genre but horror, science and fiction or action genres are usually the famous genre that people usually make a film about. Many people like horror movie; Stephen king the famous horror writer said in his article that reason why people like horror movies is because every people have mentally ill. Another reason that people like it is because some people feels fun if they see another people tortured or killed. The other genre that I study is Science and Fiction. Science and Fiction genre from the name of the genre we can see that there a lot of science in the movie such as high tech gadget, space ship, or even alien that they are not in our real life.

Other thing that we learn in the chapter is movie industry. We studied 4 Movie industries there are Hollywood, Paramount pictures, FOX, and The Warner Brothers. They all making big movies and from that movies they make a ton of money. Like Harry Potter from Warner Brothers or Titanic from Paramount. They use the best and famous actor and actress to play in their film. The opposite of the big movie industries is the Indie movie or Independent Movie. The independent movie usually made by a small amount of money. A movie can be called independent if the income of the movie is less than half of the income of the movie industry. Independent movie usually use an A minus rated star or they not very famous.

The Awards that goes to movies is the Oscar or the other name is the Academy awards. The Academy award this year is the 82nd academy awards. The Academy is an organization made from some director, producer, artist and other cinematography. It’s only 3000 people inside the academy and they have to choose the nomination and the winner for the Oscar. This years Oscar has made a new history. Kathryn Bigelow became the first women who won the Oscar for best director. But the Movie industries film not always won the Oscar sometimes the indie movie won it to. So it’s not always about money.

In Conclusion, we still can learn a lot of things about movies like directing and others. But it’s enough for us generally know movie as people who studied it.
